Lochgilphead Front Green nearing completion

Residents and visitors will soon be able to enjoy new and improved facilities as the £1.5 million transformation of Lochgilphead’s Front Green nears completion.

ºúÌÒÅ®Éñ is leading the transformation project that includes a new public square, a long held community aspiration. The square will be available to hold public events. One of the first events is likely to be the community organised Lochgilphead Celtic and Pictish Festival.

Children don’t have long to wait to try out the new play park. There is a range of new equipment to play on, including:

  • A pyramid tower with slide
  • Playhouse
  • Climbing structure with nets and rope lines
  • Swings
  • Climbing logs

The works also include drainage and landscaping to help ease the impact of flooding, additional seating and new walking and cycling facilities.

The footpath next to the new public square and war memorial has been paved with local Achnaba stone.

Contractors Hawthorn Heights are now putting the final touches in place including tree planting and soft landscaping around the Front Green and surfacing to the play park.

National delays in receiving construction materials has caused a delay with the original timescales. Back on track, the Front Green will complete and open at the end of May 2022.

Funding partners include; ºúÌÒÅ®Éñ’s Tarbert and Lochgilphead Regeneration Fund, The Scottish Government’s Cycling, Walking and Safer Routes (CWSR), Town Centre Funds, Lochgilphead Phoenix Project and the Co-operative Local Community Fund.
